Samantha Haling
Resident in Counseling
I am a Resident with a combined Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Educational Specialist degree from James Madison University. At Adagio House, I offer in-person and virtual counseling for children, adolescents and adults facing a wide range of life’s challenges.
I believe in the power of people to heal and grow in the context of a safe, nurturing relationship. Taking a trauma-informed, person-centered approach, I focus on creating a warm and supportive counseling space for my clients. I also incorporate techniques such as mindfulness, play therapy and narrative. I am incredibly excited and grateful to be continuing on at Adagio House. The team here is a group of kind and wonderful people who care deeply about their clients and who are dedicated to supporting caregivers and the community.
It took me a little while to arrive at my decision to become a counselor. I worked for years as a writing tutor, medical scribe, and assistant in multiple healthcare settings. I finished school with a B.A. in linguistics, which I thought might lead me into journalism. I am continuously amazed by the resilience, courage, and creativity of humans. When I eventually found the counseling profession, I knew it was the right path for me.
